Apartment SocietyとのMeeting、その後Shopping Complexめぐり

入居予定のApartmentの部屋のオーナーとSociety（町内会みたいなもん？）とのMeetingがあり、11時ころApartmentへ行った。オーナーは30分くらい遅れてきて（インド時間）、その間部屋をもう一度色々見てて時間をつぶした。ちょうど父親くらいの年齢のオーナーだったが未だに５－６社のChairmanやDirectorをしているとかでかくしゃくとしたじいさんだ。Maruti SuzukiのCEOの名刺も見せてくれた。ひょっとしたら使えるかも。
SocietyからはSecretaryだという上に住む弁護士のおじさんと会って少し話をした。本当はSocietyのChairmanにも会ってその2人のサインがないと入居できないらしいが、10分くらい待たされてChairmanはSecretaryが会ってOKだったのならもう良い、ということで儀式は終わった。何てことないがApartment Socidetyのルールにしているから一応面接する、って感じのようだ。

終わってからは暇なのでタクシーに乗ってショッピングセンターへ出かけた。Inorbit Shopping Complexというところへ行きたかったのだが説明がまずかったかOberoi Mallへ連れてこられた。まあいいかと思い1-2時間かけて館内を一回り。マレーシアのちょっとショボイめのショッピングセンターって感じ、まあまあ使えそう。電気屋はやたらとLGとSamsungが多く、日系メーカが押されているのを実感する。

せっかく行こうと決めたので Inorbit Shopping Mallへ。何とか連れて行ってもらって入る。さっきよりももうちょっと暗くて、大きいけどショボイ感じ。でも大き目のインテリアショップも入っていてムンバイの中では使える店かも。隣にまた別のHyper City Mallも並んでいてちょくちょく行くことになるかなー。

Nature's Basketはなかなか使えそう！

土曜日なので、ムンバイの街中へ行ってみた。
エアコンタクシーをホテルの前から借りて、５分ほど価格交渉をやったが疲れてきたので最初言っていた１５００ルピーから１３００ルピーで街まで行って帰って来るということで手を打った。

まずはインド門とタージマハールパレスホテルへ。観光客で一杯だ。
タージマハールパレスホテルは非常に良いホテルで、ブランドショップもモンブラン、ディオール、ルイヴィトン、フェラガモなどなど様々な超高級ショップが アーケードに入っている。そこにはインドで１番の日本食レストラン「WASABI by 鉄人森本」もあったので試しに入ってきた。
確かに味は日本と変わらない味で、日本人も二人居て、材料も日本からの空輸でいうことで価格の方は素晴らしく高かった。刺身定食を頼んだのだが、サラダと みそ汁と刺身１２−１５切れ（生わさびすりおろし付き）くらいで2525ルピーである。緑茶にも295ルピーかかって、結局税金など合わせると３１７３ル ピー、日本円で６０００円以上をはらったことになる。ちなみに天ぷらうどん定食にしても同じ値段。
まあでもタージマハールホテルで、目の前にインド門が見えるロケーションなので仕方がない。ただたぶん自分のお金を出してくることはもうないかな。今後は日本からのお客さんがきたときなどに接待用には使うかもしれない。

その後、Nariman pointでオベロイホテルもちょっと覗いた後、僕が住むことになるBandra地区へ移動した。ここは外国人やBollywoodの俳優も住む場所で、そこにある Nature's Basketという輸入食品も多く扱うスーパーへ試しに行ってみた。そこでは南アフリカ製のジュースや、色々なチーズ、ハム、スナック類にワインまで色々 そろっている。ここは好きだな。
ヤクルトを売っているのも見つけた。なかなか良いところだ。

Nature Basket seems very useful!

Today is Saturday, so I'd like to see Mumbai downtown, so I took a AC (Air Conditioner) Taxi in front of Hotel. Just before that I spend maybe around 5 minitues to negotiate Taxi fee, but I'm tired to negotiate with them, so I just cut down 15% of their original price, even 1300 Rps is still more expensive than market price.
I have been Gateway of India and Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, there are many sightseer. But in Taj, there is very nice place, many branded shop such as Mont Blan, Dior, Louis Vitton, Ferragamo and so on. Then I have tried No.1 Japanese restaurant in India, which is "Wasabi by Iron Man Morimoto". Actually taste is nice, the there are 2 Japanese Chef, and almost all material fly from Japan, then price became super high! Just Sashimi set which include Green Salad, Miso soup and 10-15 pieces of Sashimi with fresh Wasabi. Then price is 2525 Rps, which is just normal price in this Hotel. And they charge green tea as 295 Rps. So including tax, I have payed 3173 Rps for just a Lunch. But anyway Taj Mahal Palce Hotel is different from normal place, maybe this pricing is no choice. I will not come again by my own money, but it is OK for business use such as entertainment customer or big boss from Japan.

After that, I move up to Bandra where is nice residential area for Foreigner and Actor. So I have tried to do shopping at "Nature Basket" which is small supermarket mainly for imported foods. I have found juice from South Africa, many cheeses, ham, snacks and wines. Very nice place! And some more I have found Yakult at there. That's very good.

First day in office

This morning, I just have walked to office.
About 8;40 I have arrived, one manager has already in office then we have greeting.

After 1 or 1.5 hours later, HR manager and Admin. Manager came to office from business center, then confirm weekend schedule and I got name card, Blackberry mobile phone and Thinkpad laptop. Name card was no problem because before I have confirmed by e-mail already.
Then I try to open this laptop, but I don't have Lotus Notes password then I cannot use new e-mail account. So I e-mail to other Admin. executive to give me password, then finally I could manager to solve this issue in few hours. And I have tried to install Japanese IME to English Windows XP. But I found that installation need Windows XP original copy, but I could not find that in office. So I still cannot use Japanese Language in my new Laptop computer.
Another issue was mobile phone, even I got blackberry hardware, SIM car was still not activated. So I cannot use my mobile phone. According to Admin. Manager, because of lacking original copy of  my photo, Vodafone has never given me SIM card activation.
So, I suspect many things may not ready on first day, then I can find "India is India". Almost everything cannot meet their dead line....

ムンバイオフィス初出社！

今朝オフィスまで歩いて行った。
８時４０分頃に着いたが、既に一人のマネージャが出社していて「よくきたな」という感じで挨拶をした。

１−１．５時間後、人事のマネージャと総務のマネージャが来て週末のスケジュールを確認し、名刺とブラックベリーの携帯とノートパソコンを持ってきてくれた。名刺は事前にメールでやりとりをしておいたおかげで問題なくできていた。

 ノートパソコンについては新しいロータスノーツのアドレスのパスワードがわからず使えない。それで総務担当者にメールをしたらすぐに返信があり、数時間 でつながるようになった。ただ英語のWindows XPに日本語IMEをインストールしようとするとXPのCDを入れろ、と要求されたがCDがなく日本語が使えない。

もうひとつの問題は携帯電話で、ブラックベリーは来ても、SIMカードがまだ登録されておらず携帯が使えない。総務マネージャによると写真の提出が必要だったが、結局それを彼に今日渡したので、これからVodafoneに渡すことになるので、まだのようだ。

一日目はまだまだできていないことが色々あったが、まあこれがインドだ、と思いやっていくしかない。

Just Arrive to Mumbai!

I just have arrived to Mumbai! This time I am alone, but the way is exactly same as last month trip, so I'm quite confidence to move to Hotel. At Airport parking, I wait hotel car quite long, so I thought I should go to car together with hotel people rather than just wait on paring ground floor, but it is too late and end of the day it is same things.
Anyway from today my expatriate life in Mumbai just started!

ムンバイに到着！

ムンバイに着きました！
今回は一人できたのですが、先月来たのと全く同じホテルで、ちゃんとピックアップもしてくれて迷わず来られた。空港のパーキングでかなり長い間ホテルのク ルマを待った。ホテルの人と一緒に駐車場のクルマまで上がれば待たなくてすんだな、と思ったが結局出口が混んでいてなかなか出られないので同じことではあ る。
まあとにかく今日からムンバイの駐在員となったわけだ。
